Teaching-learning-research laboratories as places of in-depth learning: The Mainz model of cooperative teacher training

Within the framework of the joint federal and state "The Johannes Gutenberg University with its project "Teaching-learning-research laboratories as places of in-depth learning: the Mainz model of cooperative teacher education" was also positively assessed in the second funding phase and recommended for further funding.

Since January 2016, the first funding phase has seen the establishment of teaching-learning-research laboratories in the subjects English, History and Physics. In addition to an intensive theory-practice connection, these laboratories focus on the development and testing of cognitively activating tasks. Through close coordination of the participating disciplines, didactics and educational science, a sustainable improvement in teacher training at the University of Mainz has already been initiated. In the second funding phase, the project will be systematically expanded on several levels and in the breadth of the fields of action: Three further subject didactics will be included in the project, namely music, the Romansh languages and the Catholic religion, in such a way that they each form a subject tandem with an already represented subject (English/Romansh languages, history/Catholic religion, physics/music). This tandem formation ensures a practical transfer of experience and competence between the subjects. Furthermore, the cooperation is extended to the second and third phase of teacher training.

Im Rahmen des Projektes konnten zahlreiche Kooperationen im universitären Bereich, etwa unter Einbezug verschiedenster Fachdisziplinen, aber auch im außeruniversitären Bereich aufgebaut und verstetigt werden. So finden inhaltliche und strukturelle Zusammenarbeiten im Zuge der Ausgestaltung der Lehrveranstaltungen im Bachelor und Master statt. Konkret betrifft dies das Seminar UBRI–Unterricht beobachten, rekonstruieren und initiieren und die zweisemestrig angelegte Veranstaltung Forschungswerkstatt I und II im Master, in denen die Fachdidaktiken und die Bildungswissenschaften Inhalte gemeinsam gestalten und die Studierenden bei der Planung und Analyse von Unterricht gemeinsam betreuen und unterstützen.


Besonders die Veranstaltungen im Masterstudiengang leben von einer engen und stringenten Zusammenarbeit mit den kooperierenden Schulen und Lehrkräften.
